He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo J. and Helen Haney Knotts; brother, Daniel L. Knotts; and sister, Mary Lou Sherry. Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Mrs. Edna P. Knotts, Flowery Branch, Ga.; sons and daughters-in-law, Edward William (Barbara) Knotts Jr., Atlanta, Ga., Bruce J. (Linda K.) Knotts, Gainesville, Ga., and Wesley D. (Beth) Knotts, Buford, Ga.; grandchildren, Scott and Cara Peterman, and Jonathan and Savanna Knots; sisters and brother-in-law, Kathleen and John Delzell, Palatka, and Felice M. Knotts, Crescent City; brother and sister-in-law, Thomas F. (Petsy) Knotts, Columbia, S.C.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Knotts was born in Springfield, Ohio. He was a retired major from the U.S. Army after 20 years of service. He served in Korea and Vietnam. He retired from the Internal Revenue Service, was a retired real estate agent, and retired from the Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Buford after 10 years of service. He was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church, a member of the Men's Club and a member of the Buford American Legion Post 127. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Monday, with a Rosary in the chapel at 6 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16 at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church with Father Fred Wendel serving as celebrant. Entombment will be in East Shadowlawn Mausoleum in Lawrenceville, Ga., with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Building Fund, Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Buford, Ga. Arrangements are by Flanigan Funeral Home & Crematory in Buford, Ga.
