More detail on this person: Lt. Col. Frank Pierce Kolbe Jr. was one of four who died on July 19, 1981 aboard the USS Guam in a CH-53 crash.

I found an article in the Daily Intelligencer page 3 on July 21, 1981.

Also a class mate note by Raymond Burkley and a story about a Safety Award named in his honor (The Kolbe Award).
