More detail on this person: Walter Karpinia, 59 of Eagle River, Alaska OBITUARIES Anchorage Daily News (AK) - Sunday, July 14, 1991 Longtime Alaska resident Walter Karpinia, 59, died July 7 at his Eagle River residence. A graveside service will be held at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday at Fort Richardson National Cemetery. A public visitation will be from 8:15 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. Tuesday at Evergreen Memorial Chapel, Eighth Avenue and E Street, prior to burial. Mr. Karpinia was born Sept. 14, 1931, in New York. He was a highly decorated career military veteran, serving in the Korean and Vietnam wars as an aviator with the U.S. Army. He was an active member in the Masonic Lodge, the Elks, and also participated in many community service activities. He is survived by his daughters, Norma Williams of Champlin, Minn., and Katherine Karpinia, of Gainesville, Fla.; his sons, Walter of Jupiter, Fla., and David of West Palm Beach, Fla.; his sister, Mary Kordes of Stuart, Fla.; and three grandchildren. Memorial contributions in his name may be sent to the Alaska Heart Association, 2330 E. 42nd Ave., Anchorage 99508.
