More detail on this person: Michael F Kottre, 65 of Bismarck OBITUARIES Bismarck Tribune, The (ND) - Thursday, December 18, 1997 Michael F. Kottre, 65, Bismarck, died Dec. 16, 1997, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Stanley Malmgren officiating. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Eastgate Funeral Service. Michael F. Kottre was born July 15, 1932, to Steven and Margaret (Kaip) Kottre, in Glen Ullin. He was raised on the family farm. At the age of 19, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, where he served for 14 years, and then in the Army for six years. He received many awards and decorations, and he set records that are still unbroken. He was a military and civilian pilot of both planes and helicopters. He had two tours of duty in Vietnam. He returned to Bismarck after his 20-year military career, and founded K&K Electric, which he proudly claimed stood for Kottre and his Kids. All of his sons worked for him at various times during the past 20 years. Mike was able to do anything he put his mind to, but to him, becoming a Christian was the most important thing he ever did. He was a preacher and Bible teacher. He shared the Good News of Christ's love with everyone he met, and prayed for all of them. He was a kind and thoughtful man who believed in giving. He always said of money, ""If God can get it through you, He will get it to you.'' But to all of us who loved him, his greatest achievement was his devotion to us. He was Honey, Dad and Papa. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; five sons and three daughters-in-law, Michael and Clarissa, Bismarck, Daniel, San Diego, Curtis and Cindi, Jeffrey, and Raymond and Stacie, all of Bismarck; two daughters and one son-in-law, Karen, Bismarck, and Janet and Phil Parris, Marana, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren; two sisters and brothers-in-law, John and Agnes Stumpf, and Rueben and Louise Heupel, all of Bismarck; and one brother and sister-in-law, Steven and Zola, Missoula, Mont.
