More detail on this person: Robert S Lay Robert S. Lay, Jr., 69, of Melbourne, passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2012. He was born in Jackson, MS on August 22, 1942 to Robert and Mary Lay. Bob served his country honorably both in the Marine Corps and U.S. Army, and retired as a Colonel in the Army after 30 years of service. After his military career Bob spent some time working for FEMA in Albany, GA, and became the Director of Brevard County Emergency Management in 1997. Bob served Ascension Lutheran Church in Indian Harbour Beach as council president several times over the past 23 years and also taught Adult Sunday School. Bob was predeceased by his father, Robert, Sr. He is survived by his beloved wife, Patti; children, Sherri Munro, Ed (Buffy) and Branden (Bobbi) Lay; mother, Mary Case Lay, and 6 siblings. He was a loving grandfather to Chelsea and Kirsten Munro and Rowan Lay. Viewing hours will be held at Beach Funeral Homes, Indian Harbour Beach, on Monday, January 16, 2012 from 5-8 pm. Funeral services will be at 3:30 pm on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at Ascension Lutheran Church, Indian Harbour Beach. Published in FLORIDA TODAY from Jan. 14 to Jan. 16, 2012
