LEPORE, 59, OF ENTERPRISE, ALA., DIED AT HIS HOME. Times Leader, The (Wilkes-Barre, PA) - Sunday, April 7, 1996 Dr. Charles Lepore April 4, 1996 Dr. Charles J. Lepore, 59, of Enterprise, Ala., died at his homeBorn in West Pittston, he was the son of the late Anthony and Margaret Lepore. He was a 1954 graduate of West Pittston High School. He earned a bachelor of general studies from the University of Nebraska at Omaha, a masters of business administration from Troy State University, a doctorate in education from Nova University. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1956. He was commissioned a Second Lieutenant after graduating from Officer Candidate School in Fort Lawton, Okla., in 1961. He graduated from Flight School in 1963 and was rated in fixed wing and rotary aircraft. His aviation assignments included two years service in the Vietnam Conflict. While serving in the Army, he earned numerous awards for service and heroism, such as the Distinguished Flying Cross, Soldiers Medal, two Bronze Star Medals, 37 Air Medals, two Commendation Medals, a Good Conduct Medal and the Vietnamese Honor Medal, 1st Class. He retired from the Army in 1976 and pursued a career in education. At the time of his death he was employed by Embry Riddle Aeronautical University as the director of the southeast region. He was active in both civic and professional organizations. He served on the board of the Coffee County American Heart Association and the Coffee County American Cancer Association. He was instrumental in organizing the first annual Coffee County Relay for Life fund raiser in the fight against cancer. He was also in the Lions Club, the Association of the United States Army, the Retired officers Association, the Vietnam Helicopter Pilots Association and the OV-1 Mohawk Association. He was a member of Green Hill Presbyterian Church. Surviving are his wife, Mary Lepore, Enterprise, Ala.; daughters, Diane Speigner, New Brockton, Ala.; Debra Martin, Pensacola, Fla.; sons, Charles, Naperville, Fla.; Anthony, Orlando, Fla.; six grandchildren; sisters, Carol Jimmie, Kissimmee, Fla.; Shirley Massina, Philadelphia. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Green Hill Presbyterian Church, Enterprise, Ala., with the Rev. Dr. Alan Hagenbuch officiating. Interment will be in Meadowland Cemetery, Enterprise. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today cq Sunday at the Searcy Funeral Home, Enterprise, Ala. The family will also receive friends at their home at 503 Robin Lane, Enterprise. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Green Hill Presbyterian Church, Enterprise, Ala., or the Coffee County Chapter of the American Cancer Society.
