More detail on this person: Charles "Chuck" Lewis Charleston Daily Mail (WV) - Thursday, February 26, 2015 Charles "Chuck" W. Lewis, 79, went to be with the Lord on Feb. 21, 2015. He passed away quietly and peacefully at his home in Charleston with his wife and two daughters present. He was born in Bluefield, Tazewell County, Va. He was the son of Harold Raymond Lewis and Mildred French. He was preceded in death by both parents; a brother, Bernard Ray Lewis; and son, Anthony "Tony" Wayne Lewis. Chuck is survived by his loving wife, Marylou Lyon-Lewis; a brother, Ronald Zane Lewis (Eunice) of Old Hickory, Tenn.; daughters, Lesli Bostic and Dina Oliver (John) of Mount Sterling, Ky.; grandchildren, Candace Elkins (Brian) of Smiths Road, Ky., Dawn Oliver, Brandy Frazier (Mark), Cody Oliver, Ethan Oliver and Bree Bostic, all of Mount Sterling, Ky.; and great-grandchildren, Tanner Orme, Landen Wilson, Hallie Wilson, Ireland Bostic, Kurt Price, Holden Price, Gage Elkins, Gavin Elkins, Gentry Elkins, Lilyrose Berryman and Kole Berryman. He is also survived by nephews, Ronald Lewis, DDS, David Lewis and Kelly Lewis from Nashville, Tenn. Chuck, a major in the Marine Corps, served his country from 1957 to 1967, with prior pilot training at the Naval Cadet Flight School in Alameda, Calif., from 1955 to 1957. He served two tours in Vietnam as a helicopter pilot, transporting men and supplies to fighting zones and removing the wounded. He was decorated with the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnamese Service Medal, Air Medal plus the Vietnamese Campaign Medal. As a civilian, Chuck was the administrator for Charleston Renal Group, Inc., from 1976 to 2005 when he retired. His real passion was flying, especially at Leon, W.Va., but he also found time for a motorcycle club, scuba diving and bowling. He was a loving and giving man, just fun to be around, and will be missed by all who knew him. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, at Wilson Funeral Home, 420 Lee St. W., Charleston. The funeral service will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 27, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2007 McClure Parkway, Charleston, followed by burial at Elk Hills Memorial Park. Chuck was a supporter of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated if made to stjude.org.
