Bradie Lee Lucas, 74, of 1736 Slater Ave., Fayetteville, NC 28301, passed away Sunday, Jan. 21, 2007, in Highsmith-Rainey Memorial Hospital. Mr. Lucas served in the Army for 34 years and retired as a chief warrent officer in 1987. As a second career, he was employed at J.C. Penney. He was a member of the Warrant Officers Association, VFW Post 6018, American Legion and a life member of the NAACP. A viewing will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2007, at Paye Funeral Home & Memorial Chapel, 515 Murchison Road. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and at other times at the home. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 25, 2007, in Haymount Presbyterian Church, 2760 Rosehill Road. Burial will be in Fayetteville Memorial Park, 2301 Ramsey St. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Janie C. Lucas; his daughters, Frederica Lucas-Santiago, Patricia Toliver (Robert), Mona Lucas, Evette DeRouen (Louis), Jennifer Moore (Thomas); his stepchildren, Toni C. Richardson (Harry) and James P. Chavis Jr.; his grandchildren, Brandon L. Toliver, Sydne Darbone, Camille Toliver, Leah Moore, Bradie Lucas Moore and Evan DeRouen; his stepgrandchildren, William R. Lee and Chrystal C. Lee; his syblings, Ottis Winston Graham, Luella Wills, Pearly Berlette Hoskins, Lonice Schoon, Jerry Graham, Sherman Graham and Quessie Peterson; and a host of other friends and relatives. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the National Kidney Foundation in memory of Bradie L. Lucas, 30 East 33rd St., New York, NY 10016.
