More detail on this person: Mr Melvin Earl Lapan, 70 Mr. Melvin Earl LaPan Augusta Chronicle, The (GA) - Thursday, December 8, 2011 MARTINEZ, Ga. - Entered into rest Tuesday, December 6, 2011, Mr. Melvin Earl LaPan, 70, husband of Mrs. GiGi Guzman LaPan. Mr. LaPan was born in Las Vegas, Nevada. He retired after 30 years of service in the U.S. Army as a Chief warrant officer and an Army Aviator. He was a Vietnam Veteran and also served in the invasion of Grenada. Mr. LaPan earned various military medals including the Legion of Merit and three air medals. He was a crew chief door gunner in Vietnam. After retiring from the Army he worked at RTS Med at Fort Gordon. Mr. LaPan liked to ride his Harley Davidson. He was an avid bird watcher. Mr. LaPan was a fan of Aquinas High School and Georgia Southern Soccer. Family members in addition to his wife include: sons: Melvin LaPan II (Marjorie), Adrian LaPan (Farrah); daughter, Michelle LaPan; grandchildren: Melvin, Ethan, Lindley, Eli, Cullie, Amber, Mia, Nathan, Athena, Mason and Stephen; brothers: Mike LaPan, David LaPan; sister, Gail LaPan Acosta. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, December 10, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church, Rev. Scott Winchel Celebrant, Rev. Gerald P. Ragan Concelebrant, and Rev. Charlie Hughes Concelebrant, Interment will follow in Westover Memorial Park. Honorary pallbearers will be the Catholic men's lunch group, Wilson Hanchey, Daniel Vanbrackle, Javier Santana and Dennis Acosta.
