More detail on this person: LTC THOMAS J. LEE , USA (Ret.) LTC Thomas J. Lee, Ret., 63, of Fort Myers, passed away September 18, 2009 following a brave battle with cancer. Tom retired from the US Army after 22 years which included serving as an OV-1 Mohawk pilot in Viet Nam and an infantry officer in Panama. After leaving the Army, Tom became the director of the Ostego Bay Marine Science Foundation on San Carlos Island and spent much of his time researching water quality in Estero Bay. For the past 12 years, he has served as a police officer with the Lee County Port Authority. Tom leaves the love of his life, Cathy, daughters Michelle (Todd) and Joy (Fred), sisters Sheryl and Anne, grandsons Tommy, Tanner and Nash, as well as other family and friends including Karen, Betty, Greg and James. He is also greatly missed by his devoted friends from the Southwest Florida Airport who have been a constant comfort and blessing during this time. The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Ostego Bay Foundation, 718 Fisherman's Wharf, Fort Myers Beach, FL 33931 in Tom's memory. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, September 26, at the Broadway Community Church, 3309 S. Broadway, Fort Myers, FL 33901. Funeral arrangements under the direction of Gendron Funeral and Cremation Services Inc., 4224 Cleveland Ave., Suite 1, Fort Myers, Florida 33901.
