More detail on this person: Edward Jones Leonard, 81 OBIT - LEONARD, Edward Jones Roanoke Times, The (VA) - Friday, February 25, 2011 Edward Jones Leonard, 81, of Radford, Va., passed away peacefully on February 23, 2011. Ed was a graduate and active alumnus of the United States Naval Academy class of 1952. He was a highly decorated U.S. Air Force pilot, who proudly served his country for 22 years, both stateside and in combat in Vietnam. He continued serving his country for an additional 19 years as a Federal Employee with the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Ed is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Josephine "Dolly" Leonard, of Radford; son, Tom and wife, Terry Leonard, of North Topsail Beach, N.C.; daughter, Kathy and husband, Tom Lillard, of Radford; grandchildren, Kevin, Rachel, and Kasey Lillard, of Radford, Tommy Leonard, of Alexandria, Va., Eliza Miramontes; and great-granddaughter, Liliana Miramontes, of Winchester; brother, Daniel B. II and wife, Giovanna Adimari Leonard, of Malvern, Pa. He will always be remembered and deeply loved by the numerous lives he touched. The family's heartfelt thanks goes out to the incredible staff at the Arbors in the Kroontje Health Care Center, Warm Hearth Village in Blacksburg. The care, kindness and devotion they showed to Ed and our family will remain with us forever. Funeral services, with full military honors will be conducted at the Old Post Chapel, Ft. Myer, Va., with internment at Arlington National Cemetery on June 8, 2011, 9 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Wounded Warrior Fund, and Brain Injury Services of Southwest Virginia. The family will receive friends Friday, February 25, 2011, from 5 until 7 p.m. at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford.
