More detail on this person: John Hugh Lewis John Hugh Lewis, age 71, of Marietta, died Thursday, December 26, 2013, at Golden Rose Assisted Living in Marietta. John Lewis was born in Shady Dale, Georgia, on September 5, 1942, to the late Hugh Sherman Lewis and Geneva Grizzell Lewis. He graduated from Monticello High School and attended West Georgia College and Beulah Heights Bible College. He was married to the late Evelyn Cantrell Lewis of Ellijay for forty-eight years. Along with his parents and wife, his brother-in-law, Harrell Fountain preceded him in death. He loved flying and served in the U.S. Army as a helicopter pilot for four years with one year spent in Vietnam where he received a Purple Heart. He owned and operated Palace Forge in Atlanta, specializing in custom wrought-iron furniture until his retirement in 2010. He is survived by his sisters and brothers-in-law, Gloria and Bob Lowrey of Athens, Joyce and Don Hearn of Gainesville, Florida, and Phyllis Fountain of Carrollton; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A memorial service will be held at a later date at the chapel of Jordan Funeral Home. The family suggests in lieu of flowers donations be made to one's favorite charity. Jordan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements
