More detail on this person: Frank Harris Miller Frank Harris Miller Duplin Times, The (NC) - Thursday, January 15, 2015 KENANSVILLE - Frank Harris Miller of Kenansville passed away Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015 at the Milford and Reba Quinn Hospice Care Center in Kenansville. He was born Jan. 5, 1933 in Fayetteville, West Virginia. He was the youngest son of the late Harry and Ernestine Harris Miller. Frank was also preceded in death by his sister, Elizabeth and brother, Harry, Jr. He graduated from Fayetteville High School and West Virginia University with a bachelor of science in business management. He retired in 1975 from the U.S. Army as a lieutenant colonel after 20 years and two months. Five years were spent overseas on three Asian tours, 18 months in Korea and two tours in Vietnam. His helicopter was shot down five times. Fortunately he suffered no injuries. Frank is survived by his wife, Linda Hunter Hall Miller; stepdaughter, Merita Hall and Jason DeMeritt; two sons, three daughters, several grandchildren and numerous friends. He was an active member and past commander of Warsaw VFW Post 9810, North Carolina Helicopter Pilots' Association, West Virginia American Legion, and Warsaw Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder and was very involved with member care and community outreach. Frank was instrumental in bringing the Vietnam Wall to Warsaw. He was a very talented woodworker and builder. He received many awards and commendations while in service. Funeral service was held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 13 at Warsaw Presbyterian Church followed by visitation. Burial with full military honors will be held at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20 at Quantico National Cemetery, Triangle, VA. Pallbearers were Michael Best, Newt Carter, Tom Fife, Rob Lee, A. J. Searles, and Johnson Sheffield. Honorary pallbearer was James Guy. Contributions in Frank's memory may be made to the Southeastern Medical Oncology Center, 203 Cox Blvd, Goldsboro, NC 27534 or Milford and Reba Quinn Hospice Care Center, 748 S Kenansville By-Pass, Kenansville, NC 28349. The family would like to thank the staff at SMOC, Dr. John Newton and staff, 4th floor staff at Wayne Memorial Hospital and the staff at Quinn Hospice Care Center for their excellent care.
