More detail on this person: Retired US Army Chief Warrant Officer 2 James T. Maxwell, 65, of Belleville, Ill., born Oct. 13, 1946, in San Diego, Calif., died Wednesday, July 25, 2012, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Belleville, Ill.

Chief Warrant Officer Maxwell was a veteran of the US Army. He served during the Vietnam War as a combat assault helicopter pilot. After his service in the Armed Forces, he enjoyed antiquing and refinishing furniture. He was active with various veterans' organizations.

James was preceded in death by his parents, James A. Maxwell and Annie Campbell; a sister, Joanna Olson; one niece and one nephew.

Surviving are his present wife, Sue, nee Monroe, Sauget Maxwell; two sons, James Michael (Nelleke) Maxwell of Chesterfield, Mo., and Douglas Edward (Christina) Maxwell of Maryland Heights, Mo.; four grandchildren: Zachary, Matthew, Lauren, and Alec Maxwell; step-son, Richard A. (Trisha) Sauget of Sauget, Ill.; step-daughter, Annie (Dave) Sauget-Miller of Belleville, Ill.; Five step-grandchildren, Nick Krietemeyer, Tre Sauget, Simone Sauget and Tiernan and Seamus Miller; brother, Bob (Chrissy) Maxwell of Hamilton, N.Y.; a nephew and a niece, Travis and Tiffany Maxwell.

Visitation: Friends may call from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 3, 2012, at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Belleville, Ill.

Funeral: Funeral rite service will follow at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 3, 2012, at the church. A private burial service of his ashes will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.
