Michael A. Martin, a close friend of mine from C/1/9 Cav. He did die of suicide in 2009, but only after living at least a year with terminal inoperable cancer, that caused him excruciating pain on a daily basis. He stood it as long as he could, said his goodbyes to all his friends, told them of his plans, had a big party at his house, then took care of it a few weeks later. I think it would be fair to his reputation to add to the sentence about the suicide, "following terminal inoperable cancer." All of us that knew him are proud of him for the way he handled it.
