More detail on this person: Col. Werner Bagwell (Jack) McDannald, U.S. Army, Ret., age 57, of Fountain Inn, S.C., died October 17 at Greenville Memorial Medical Center.

Mr. McDannald was born in Halifax County on April 4, 1943, a son of Dorothy Bagwell and Harvey Stebbins McDannald Sr. and was married to Mary Garrett (Molly) McDannald. He was a graduate of Randolph Macon Military Academy and graduated in 1966 from Clemson University where he was active in the Army ROTC.

He was manager of Real Estate Investment Trust and president of Piedmont Contractors Inc., and various businesses; was a member of Fountain Inn Presbyterian Church; served with the 187th Assault Helicopter Company in Tay Ninh, Vietnam and was awarded the Bronze Star. He also was awarded three Air Medals and the Army Commendations Medal; served in the National Guard with the 108th Signal battalion as Battalion Operational officer; served with the 228th Brigade Headquarters in Spartanburg as Brigade Operational officer; retired as a Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve.

Survivors of Mr. McDannald include his wife of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Werner David and Kerri Bullock McDannald and Robert Anderson and Renee Gooding McDannald; a daughter, Mary Stewart McDannald; two grandchildren, Rachel Anderson McDannald and Kelly Garrett McDannald; and a brother, Harvey Stebbins (Mac) McDannald Jr.

Private committal services, with military honors, will be today at Fairview Presbyterian Church Cemetery. A memorial service will be at 2:00 today at Fountain Inn Presbyterian Church conducted by the Rev. Roscoe Wilson and Dr. Steve Mays, with visitation at the church following the service.
