More detail on this person: Mr Lawrence F Or Larry Mcdonald, 57 LAWRENCE F. McDONALD Gazette, The (Colorado Springs, CO) - Wednesday, August 18, 2004 CW4 (Retired) Lawrence F. McDonald, age 57 of East Wenatchee, WA died August 3, 2004, at home. He was born August 6, 1946, in Phoenix, AZ to Ernest S. and Doris I. (Foster) McDonald. Larry's father was in the Air Force, so he lived all over the world. He graduated from high school in Okinawa where he lettered in several sports, was a champion swimmer, diver and played on the Far East All-Star football team. Larry joined the US Army in 1965. He graduated from Flight School in 1966 as a helicopter pilot and was immediately sent to Vietnam. He served three tours in the Mekong Delta region as a gun ship pilot with the Vikings. His combat awards included the Silver Star, Distinguished Flying Cross, two Bronze Stars, over seventy Air Medals, four Purple Hearts, the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, and several other service medals and decorations. He retired from the Army in 1993. He is survived by his wife, Susan Brabrook McDonald and his g r a n d d a u g h t e r, Alexandrea Nessi, of East Wenatchee, WA; his mother, Doris (William) Munro of Ottawa, Ontario; son, Dustin (Danielle) McDonald of Yuba City, CA; sister, Shari McDonald of Atlanta, GA; brother David E. (Cyndi) McDonald of Colorado Springs, CO; grandson, Brian Williams of Warner-Robbins AFB, GA; and numerous family and friends. Larry was preceded in death by his father Col. Ernest McDonald; daughter, Dawn McDonald; stepson, Matthew Nessi, and stepdaughter, Madeleine Nessi. Services were held August 7, 2004 in East Wenatchee. A full military memorial service with honors will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
