More detail on this person: Maj David H Marlowe, 55 Press-Enterprise, The (Riverside, CA) - Monday, February 14, 2000 The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for retired Maj. David H. Marlowe, 55, at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Blythe. He died Thursday of cancer at Palo Verde Medical Center in Blythe. Friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. today at Frye Chapel and Mortuary in Blythe. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Interment will be in Palo Verde Cemetery in Blythe. Mr. Marlowe was born in Blythe, where he lived more than 35 years. He served in the U. S. Army and Army Air Calvary for 20 years before he retired as a major in 1985. During his service, he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Purple Heart. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War. After he retired, he operated the family farm in Blythe with his brother, Floyd. He received a bachelor's degree from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, and a master's degree from Golden Gate University in San Francisco. Mr. Marlowe was past president of Blythe Lions Club. He was past commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars post 2987. He served on the board of directors for Riverside County Farm Bureau and on the California Regional Water Quality Control Board, Colorado River Basin Region. He was a member of East Area Planning Council of Riverside County and the Palo Verde Unified School Board of Trustees. Mr. Marlowe received a "Citizen of the Year" award from Blythe Chamber of Commerce in 1994. He is survived by his wife, Rosemary; a son, Christopher of Blythe; a daughter, Elizabeth of Hermosa Beach; his mother, Ella Louise of Blythe; two sisters, Janet White and Shirley Nash, both of Blythe; and a brother, Floyd of Blythe. The family suggests memorial contributions to Harmony Lunch Kitchen, P. O. Box 2067, Blythe 92225.
