More detail on this person: Cobleskill - Charles Vincent Masick, 69, of State Route 10, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 7, 2012 at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown, surrounded by his loving wife and family. Charles was born March 28, 1943 at the former Elm Home in Cobleskill, and was the son of Albert and Alma (Maxwell) Masick. Charles grew up in Middleburgh and was educated at the University of Vermont where he was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon and was commissioned through ROTC as a second lieutenant. He served in the US Army as a captain and helicopter pilot with 1st Air Cavalry Division and received a Purple Heart, The Combat Infantryman's Badge, The Bronze Star Medal, and the Air Medal. Charles was awarded two master's degrees from SUNY. He served as an assistant dean of students and retired as a professor of mathematics from SUNY Cobleskill. Charles served as first chairman of the board of directors of SUNY Cobleskill Credit Union. He also served on the University Faculty Senate. Charles was a former member of the Board of Directors of the SUNY Cobleskill Foundation and Board of Directors of the Tri-County Motor Club. He was also a member of BPOE Lodge #2040, Schoharie American Legion, VFW, Disabled American Veterans of Schenectady, and Retired Officer's Association. He became a postcard collector and dealer and was a life member of the American Philatic Society and many regional postcard clubs. In his later years, Chuck loved to travel with his wife and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Cynthia Cartwright Masick; two daughters, Kristen Gleason (Brian) and Stephanie Masick (Nick) of Boston, MA; his son, Captain Erik D. (Erin) Masick of Woodbridge, VA; two grandsons, Nicholas and Alexander Gleason; and two sisters, Marilyn Masick and Amy Masick of Mount Dora, FL. The Communion for the Reserved Sacrament will be held at 10 a.m. on Wedensday, July 11, 2012 at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, St. Christopher's Place, Cobleskill, with Mother Nina George-Hacker officiating. A period of visitation will be held at the church an hour prior to the service from 9 to 10 a.m. Burial with full military honors will be at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Christopher's Episcopal Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill and Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, 134 River St., Middleburgh.
