More detail on this person: Robert Bob Murphy passed away on April 6th, 2014. Born in Newport News, VA on March 13, 1948 his childhood was spent in Virginia and Florida, for his Sr Yr in high school he attended Oak Hill Academy in VA. Upon graduation he joined the Army and attained the rank of Captain as a Helicopter Pilot for 2 tours during the Vietnam War. After discharge from the Army at Ft Stewart he settled in Savannah, receiving a BA from Armstrong State College in Music Education he taught for 17 years in Savannah area schools. Upon retirement he enjoyed playing Golf and Music, especially his trumpet and guitars. He was predeceased in death by his parents, Robert and Marianna and sister Anne Murphy Townsend. He is survived by his nephew Michael, his wife Crystal and grandnephew Grady Townsend of Merritt Island, FL as well as many close friends who were his Savannah family. Internment will be at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Fl with Military Honors.
