McLennan Jr. (US Army Retired) 82 will be on Wednesday August 29 2012 at 11:30 a.m. at Christ Presbyterian Church (PCA) in New Braunfels with internment to follow on Thursday August 30 2012 at 11:30 a.m. at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. Stuart died of cancer on August 22 2012 in New Braunfels. LTC McLennan was born October 31 1930 to LT Stuart and Dorothy McLennan (US Army Air Corps) at Jefferson Barracks in St. Louis MO. Stuart Jr. graduated from Central High School in Wilson NY in 1948; attended Stanton Preparatory School; and graduated from West Point in 1953 and the Command and General Staff College in 1968. He served with aviation artillery and training units in France Germany Korea and the United States; volunteered for combat tours in Vietnam with the 1st Cavalry Division in 1966 and 17th Aviation Group in 1970; and retired from active duty at Fort Sam Houston Texas in 1978. Stuart Jr. then worked for Flight Safety International Century 21 Congressman Lamar Smith (R-Texas 21); and H&R Block. LTC McLennan's military awards include the Distinguished Flying Cross Soldiers Medal Bronze Star (x3) Air Medal (x4) and Purple Heart. LTC McLennan is survived by his wife Jean McLennan and two stepsons Mark and David Gibbs; formerspouse Abbie McLennan a son Stuart G McLennan III and his wife Kay two daughters; Kyle E Potts and her husband Tracy and Dana A Stone and her husband Todd 11 grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. LTC McLennan was an active member of Christ Presbyterian Church (PCA) and a passionate supporter of conservative political and social policies and the United States military especially Army Aviation and the 1st Cavalry Division. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society West Point Association of Graduates 1st Cavalry Division Association or Army Aviation Association of America.
