More detail on this person: Colonel Paul B. Malone III, USA (Ret.) (Age 84) of Annandale, VA passed away on January 1, 2014.

He was born at Fort Monroe, VA and the son of Colonel A.J. Kerwin USAF (Ret.) and Ethel Emmanuelli Malone and grandson of Major General Paul B. USA (Ret.) and sertruoe Kerwin Malone and Colonel Felix USA (Ret.) and Ethel Treadwell Emmanuelli. He graduated from the United States Military Academy

at west point in 1952 and earned Master's and Doctorate degrees in 1969 and 1973 respectively, from The George Washington University (GW) where he was an Associate Professor, Assistant Dean for 19 years and Professor Emeritus. He was a long time member ofSt. Ambrose Catholic Church.

He was predeceased earlier this year by his beloved wife of 60 years, Ann M .. Malone. He is survived by his son, Lieutenant Colonel paul B. Malone IV, USA (Ret.) (Diane +1.); daughter, Marylee Maloney (James R.); son, Anthony P. Malone (Marie Y.) and grandchildren, sandra P. Malone, Katie Ann Maloney,

James P. Maloney and Anthony P. Malone, Jr.

Colonel Malone served two tours in Vietnam and was severely wounded in action leading his 1 st Aviation Battalion, 1 st Infantry DivIslon in the rescue of an infantry battalion that had been ambushed by a North Vietnamese Army regimeflt in 1967 that is the subject of David Mariniss' book, IllliY Marched into the Sunlight. After he retired from the Army In 1978, he was a popular

professor at GW and a prolific speaker and writer on his favorite subject of leadership in which he combined humor and his cartooning skills into leadership consulting authoring two books; tove'srn and tead'sm and Abuse'Em and Lose'Em. He was also Volunteered as a docent at the Smithsonian Institution's Air and Space and Ud var Hazy Museums and Fairfax INOVA Hospital in later years. His positive attitude, sense of humor and warmth touched all that he came in contact.

The viewing will be at Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home, 9902 Braddock Road, Fairfax, VA on wednesday, January 8,2014 from 5 to 8 p.m. and the funeral Will be in the future when he will join his beloved wife, Ann at Arlington National cemetery.
