(Bob) McGuffin, Sr., 79, Dover, died Tuesday, July 24, 2007, at Gateway Medical Center. The funeral will be held at 1 PM Friday at First Baptist Church, Dover with Bro. John Laida, Bro. Royce Dukes, and Bro. Jackie Kay officiating. Burial will be in Stewart County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 5 - 8 PM Thursday at Anglin Funeral Home and from 12 - 1 PM Friday at First Baptist Church, Dover. Anglin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. McGuffin was born on June 25, 1928 in South Carolina, son of Albert F. and Thelma Haynes McGuffin. He was a member of the First Baptist Church where he taught the Men's Bible Class. He was a Mason and member of the Iron Mountain Lodge. Mr. McGuffin flew fixed wing and helicopters and was a veteran of 30 years service. He served two tours in Vietnam. Decorations include a Senior Parachutist Badge, National Defense Service Medal, 1st. Oak Leaf Cluster, Master Army Aviators Badge, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Legion of Merit with Oak Leaf Cluster, Expert Infantryman Badge, Distinguished Flying Cross, Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 4 Stars, 4 Overseas Bars, Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal with 14 Oak Leaf Clusters, Vietnam Campaign Medal. Survivors include his wife Joyce Watson McGuffin, children Robert (Bobby) F. Jr. (Elaine) McGuffin, Colorado Springs, Colo., Andrew McGuffin, Dover, Lydia McGuffin (Randy) Duncan, St. Augustine, Fla.; brother, Don McGuffin and sister, Betty Smith, both of Jacksonville, Fla.; grandchildren, Jay and Isaac McGuffin, Nicholas and Amanda Duncan; and two great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be the Men's Bible Class at the First Baptist Church. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Deacons of the church. Memorials can be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, 220 Church St. Dover, TN; or the Stewart Co. Public Library, 102 Natcor Dr. Dover, TN 37058.
