More detail on this person: Joseph A May Joseph A. May of Charlotte, NC, passed away Nov. 13, 2004. He was born on Dec. 3, 1941 in Fairborn, OH. He was a decorated Vietnam veteran and served 23 years active duty to retire as a major from Ft. Jackson, SC. His most recent employment was with Auto Zone Inc. Mr. May's enjoyment came from many things. He enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, and riding his motorcycle. He was an avid member of the Charlotte Hog Association in Matthews as well as the Speedway Hog Chapter in Concord, NC. He is survived by his wife, Maxie L. May of Charlotte, NC; his children, Diana G. Hoppa (Jim Hoppa) of Charlotte, Sonya M. Moore (Kevin Moore) of Dallas, TX, Steven May (Reneé May) of Pensacola, FL and Laura M. May of Charlotte; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother, Dorothy L. Shaw of Dandridge, TN; and his two brothers, Bob May of Dandridge, TN, and Dailey May Jr. of Dallas TX. He was preceded in death by his father, Dailey May Sr. Funeral services were conducted Nov. 17 at Harry and Bryant Company of Charlotte, NC. A service with military honors was held at graveside at Sharon Memorial Gardens.
