Elliott McCarty Jr., 65, currently of the
Dominican Republic (formerly of Helena, AR and
Memphis, TN), passed away August 17, 2013 in
Puerto Rico. He was born February 5, 1948 in
Helena, AR, the son of Robert Elliott and Merry
Jean McCarty. He was preceded in death by his
father Robert Elliott McCarty Sr. He is survived
by his mother Merry Jean McCarty of Little Rock,
AR; five children, Cabe McCarty of New York, NY,
Susan McCannless of Memphis, TN, Elle McCarty
of Little Rock, AR, Ceil and Skye McCarty and wife
Fran currently of the Dominican Republic. Brothers
and sisters Becky, Jack Holly and Tim survive him
as well. Robin proudly served his country as a
helicopter pilot in the United States Army during
the Vietnam War. He was twice shot down and was
the recipient of the Silver Star, Distinguished
Flying Cross, and Bronze Star Medal among other
awards. Once discharged from service he farmed
the deltas in Arkansas before becoming a stock
and commodities broker in Memphis, TN. Upon
early retirement Robin traded coat and tie for
shorts and sandals. He bought a sailboat and for
the next 20 years he and his young family lived
life on the high seas sailing throughout the
Caribbean and making lifetime friends in every
port. Robin was loved by many, astounded more
and left a mark on all. A memorial will be held at
