More detail on this person: Major Gary Eugene Madden, 62 Obituaries San Antonio Express-News (TX) - Sunday, May 8, 2011 Major Gary Eugene Madden USA (Ret.), a devoted family man joined our heavenly Father on April 30, 2011, with his loving wife Miriam of 26 years by his side. His parents were Eugenie Madden and the late CWO-3 Louis R. Madden. He was born on Sept. 28, 1948 at Ft. Hustus, VA and graduated from Sam Houston High in 1967 and Texas A&M in 1971. He served in the U.S. Army as an MSC Officer and retired after 20 years as a Master Aviator. He was Special Forces, Airborne, and Air Assault qualified with an Expert Field Medical Badge, and received 5 Meritorious Service and 3 Army Commendation medals. He then taught at Lackland ISD until 2009 and received the Kens 5 Excel Award as Teacher of the Year for 2005-06. He was a member of St. Matthew's ACTS, Knights of Columbus, and an Assistant Scout Master for BSA Troop 271. He is survived by his wife Miriam, his mother Eugenie; his son 1LT John Madden, now serving in Iraq; his daughter Cadet Crystal Madden, graduating senior of West Point; his daughter Jennifer Roquemore, his son Brian Madden, his son PO2 Michael Madden, his brother LTC Don Madden USAR (Ret.) and his wife Joyce, and his sister Monica Wallace. Also by two granddaughters, Lauren and McKinlee, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, CWO-3 Louis R. Madden USA (Ret.), and his brother-in-law Sgt. Dean A. Wallace USAF (Ret.). The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., May 9, 2011, at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
