Colonel retired U.S. Air Force, 63, of O'Fallon, IL, born June 5, 1937 in Hartford, died on Tuesday (May 15, 2001) at his residence. Mr. Madden graduated from Weaver High School, Hartford in 1955. Mr. Madden was a graduate of the college of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA, and received his Masters Degree in Business from Webster University in St. Louis. He retired in 1985 as a Lt. Colonel from the United States Air Force. He currently was a real estate appraiser and owner of M&M Appraisal Company, a former real estate agent broker for Coldwell Banker Brown Realtors, and member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, O'Fallon, IL, where he was active in the Men's Group. Preceded in death by his parents, John Patrick and Eileen Theresa (Fallon) Madden. Surviving are his wife, Virginia (Duggan) Madden; five daughters, Elizabeth Madden and Raymond Dom of Leesburg, VA, Amy Madden of Bar Harbor, ME, Alison Madden and Howard Lehr of Redwood City, CA, Julie and James Scheibel of Fort Worth, TX, Kara Madden and Jesus Sanchez Yago of Madrid, Spain; six grandchildren, Jameson Patrick Dom, Colin Madden Lehr, Alex Madden Lehr, Fallon Nicole Scheibel, Ryan James Scheibel, Evan Thomas Scheibel; four brothers, John Madden of St. Petersburg, FL, Joseph and Marguerite Madden of Newington, James Madden of Norwich, Michael Madden of Boston, MA; two sisters, Mary Lowndes of West Hartford, Eileen McGuinness of East Hartford; two sisters-in-law, Mary Patricia and Lawrence Sullivan of Wheaton, IL, Joan and John Freitas of Jacobstown, NJ; our beloved uncle and cousin. Mr. Madden requested his body be donated to Washington University School of Medicine. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Family Hospice of Belleville Area, 11 Park Place, Swansea, IL 62226. Friends may call from 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 19, until time of Memorial Mass at 12 Noon at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in O'Fallon, IL. Arrangements were handled by Kassly Mortuary, Ltd., Fairview Heights, IL.
