MINNER, DIES AT 58 Modesto Bee, The (CA) - Tuesday, November 8, 2005 Longtime Tuolumne County resident and physician Dr. David Farrell Minner died Saturday at Sonora Regional Medical Center after suffering a heart attack. Dr. Minner, a resident of Twain Harte, was 58. A celebration of life has been scheduled for Wednesday at the Twain Harte Golf Course. Dr. Minner lived in Tuolumne County for 25 years. Born in Vallejo, Dr. Minner was raised and schooled in Tracy. He graduated from the University of California at Riverside before serving in the Army from 1968 to 1972. A chief warrant officer, Dr. Minner served in Vietnam as a helicopter pilot for part of his service career, flying as a member of the 336 Thunderbird Squadron based in Soc Trang, Vietnam, where he performed both attack and hazardous rescue operations. Wounded twice, he was awarded two Purple Hearts, a Bronze Star and 37 Air Medals with the V for valor. As a result of his Vietnam service, according to his brother, Larry Minner of Tracy, Dr. Minner decided to enter the medical field as a way of helping humanity. He graduated from the University of California at San Francisco medical school. After becoming a physician, Dr. Minner practiced for one year in the Sonora Community Hospital emergency room before opening family practices in Groveland and Twain Harte, where he was known for visiting infirm patients in rural, remote areas of the county. An avid golfer, Dr. Minner was on the board of directors of the Twain Harte Golf Course. Besides his brother, Dr. Minner is survived by his wife, Denise Minner of San Diego; son, Josh Minner of Santa Cruz; stepson, Jacob Fear of San Diego; daughters, Megan Aymond of Salt Lake City and Hannah Minner of San Diego; mother, Ruby Minner of Tracy; sister, Kathy Jones of Tracy; and two step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Chut Minner; and first wife, Marcia Minner. Donations may be made to the Twain Harte Golf Course, P.O.
