More detail on this person: Colonel Steven J Moody OBITUARIES Gazette, The (Colorado Springs, CO) - Tuesday, July 22, 2003 Colonel (US Army, Retired) Steven J. Moody, eight year resident of Colorado Sprigs, died July 15, 2003 in Colorado Springs. Steve was a beloved father, grandfather, son, brother and dear friend to many. He was born in Rockford-Winnebago, IL, on November 8, 1947 to Lola B. (deceased) and Joseph W. Moody. He is survived by his three daughters, Tiffany Lockhart of Littleton, Kimberly (Kippy) Moody of Colorado Springs and Rebecca (Becky) Moody of Denver, Cynthia Moody of Denver, his father Joe and his brother Stuart Moody, sisters Janice Hoffman and Jody Schroeder of Iowa, grandchildren Theresa Deal, Gage Lockhart and Dallas Howard. He will be greatly missed by his lifelong friends John and Imelda Carter, Phil Harding, Guy and Jane Bennett, Jim and Rose Short, confidant Sue Below, and many other friends and colleagues from his military and civilian life. Decorated and honored veteran of the Vietnam War, Steven served 27 years in the United States Army while dedicating his life to his country and the people who were in his command. He was assigned to several duty stations to include Monterey, CA; Fort Leavenworth, KS; Fort Knox, KY; Kwajalein, Marshall Islands; Yuma Proving Grounds, AZ; and Seoul, Korea, eventually retiring in Colorado Springs. He received numerous citations, commendations and awards throughout his military service as an aviator to include: Legion of Merit (2nd Award), Distinguished Flying Cross (3rd Award), Bronze Star Medal (2nd Award), Purple Heart, Meritorious Service Medal (3rd Award), Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal (3rd Award), National Service Defense Medal (2nd Award), Vietnam Service Medal (6th Award), Armed Forces Reserved Medal, Army Service Ribbon, until his retirement in 1995. He was a graduate of the Aviator Course, the Armor Course, and Command and General Staff College. He was currently serving as a civilian contractor at Shriever AFB. Greatly missed will be his unique humor and wit when he walked into a room. His skills and talents as a craftsman were shared with his family and many, many friends. Friends will treasure the memories, the laughter and the tears, the gift of his love and his life to all. The celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday, July 22, 2003 at Mountain View Mortuary Chapel, the viewing is from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m., with a service to follow at 7:00 p.m. The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Disabled American Veterans Association or to the Kennedy Center Imagination Celebration, both organizations that Steve supported.
