More detail on this person: Leo Michael Moore, beloved in the memory of the Moore family, passed away in the early morning hours of January 2, 2016.

He is survived by his loving wife, Denise Moore; a combined family including Matthew Moore and wife Erica, Dennis Moore and wife Yvonne, Bryce Hill and husband Fred, and Jessica Eldridge and husband Alex; grandchildren, Sydney, Nathaniel, Madeleine, and Ethan; siblings Eileen MacArthur, David Moore, Joan Varney, Dennis Moore, Mary Hardy, and Rita Haag; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and former wife, Louise Adams, mother of Matthew and Dennis.

A U.S. Army veteran, he piloted Chinook helicopters in support of combat operations in Vietnam in 1968. He received his bachelor of science degree in engineering from Virginia Tech and enjoyed a successful career as an entrepreneur, inventor, and partner in Industrial Machine Manufacturing Company in Richmond. One of Mr. Moore's inventions led to the creation of a new business venture in 2015. He and a partner started Tube Tape, a manufacturing company that produces a specialty tape for the collision repair industry.

Mr. Moore was a generous man, often devoting time and assets to philanthropic projects to benefit local schools. He enjoyed sharing with his wife and family his love of sailing. His boat, "Mr. Wizard," was recognized by fellow sailors all around the Chesapeake Bay, especially for the American flag he flew from the mast in an enduring expression of patriotism after the September 11, 2001 attacks.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Friday, January 8, at the West Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 West Broad St., Richmond, where funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 9. Interment with military honors will follow at Dale Memorial Park where he will be buried next to his late wife, Martha.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
