Murray Jr., age 74, of Bridgeport, devoted husband of Erna Stoll Murray, died on Thursday, August 26, 2004, at St. Vincent's Medical Center, Bridgeport. Born in Hartsville, S.C., he was the son of the late George W. and Aleitha Gilliard Murray. A resident of Bridgeport since 1969, George was a technical writer for Sikorsky Aircraft, where he worked for more than 20 years. He was a member of the Rotary Club of Bridgeport, as well as an avid ham radio operator. A chief warrant officer, he faithfully served his country in peace time, as well as the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was awarded the Korean Service Medal with five Bronze Stars, the Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Air Medal with four oak leaf clusters and a Bronze Star Medal. Survivors include his devoted wife, Erna Murray of Bridgeport; and a niece, Tamaria Edwards of Hartsville, S.C. Friends are invited to attend funeral services on Saturday (TODAY) at 11 a.m. in the Commerce Hill Funeral Home, followed by military honors. The Commerce Hill Funeral Home, 4798 Main Street, Bridgeport (on the Trumbull line), is in charge of arrangements.
