More detail on this person: Robert N. Norona Jr. passed away suddenly on June 20, 2014 in Bend, Or. He was the son of Robert Norona Sr. and the late Margaret Norona. He was born in Modesto, Ca. and raised in Santa Clara where he attended St. Patricks elementary school and Bellarmine College Prep. Bob graduated from Brophy College Prep in Phoenix, AZ. He joined the 101st Airborne and served proudly in Vietnam as a helicopter pilot, flying over a 1000 combat hours. Upon returning, Captain Norona was a helicopter instructor at Fort Wolters, TX. After the war, Bob graduated from San Jose State and worked at several Bay Area tech companies during his career. He was an avid fisherman and was passionate about his cabins northeast of Arnold, Ca. No one could tell a joke better than Bob and he was the ultimate host with a big heart. He is survived by his father Bob Norona, his loving son Garrett Norona, stepdaughter Ashley Jones and his dear aunt Lenore "Ellie" Luedemann. Bob was loved and will be missed by his extended family and friends. He will be buried in a private service at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, Ca. Donations in his honor may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
