Naughton passed away on Sept,. 30, 2010 at the
age of 72. A retired Army Officer and Master Army
Aviator, he was born in White Plains, NY in 1938
and moved to Terryville, CT where he attended
school & then graduated from the University of
Connecticut. He served in the Army transportation
corps from 1961 to 1987 primarily as an Army
Aviator, accruing several air medals and Bronze
Stars during his 3 tours in Vietnam.

October 3, 2010:
Richard Livingston Naughton, LTC, U.S. Army (Ret.)
(Age 72) of Hertford, N.C. died Thursday,
September 30, 2010 in his home. Born in White
Plains, NY, he was the son of the late Leroy and
Eva Krinitsky Naughton. As a child he moved to
Terryville, CT, where he attended school and then
graduated from the University of Connecticutt in
1961. A retired Army officer and Master Army
aviator, he served in the Army Transportation
Corps from 1961 to 1987 primarily as an Army
Aviator, accruing several air medals and Bronze
Stars during his three tours of duty in Vietnam.
After retirement he continued to work in the
Washington, DC area for the US Dept. of
Transportation and several defense contractors.
Moving from Reston, VA to Albemarle Plantation in
Hertford, NC, he enjoyed gardening, cooking, and
traveling. He was a member of Hertford United
Methodist Church.
Surviving are his loving wife, Carol, two sons,
Chris Naughton, and wife Stacey of Fairfax, VA,
and Jay Naughton and wife, Kimberly of Olney, MD;
three granddaughters, Nikki, Sloane, and Sydney;
and a grandson, Kyle.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January
13, 2011 at 11 a.m. in the Fort Myer Chapel, Fort
Myer, VA. Burial with Full Military Honors will
follow in Arlington National Cemetery. Miller &
Van Essendelft, Funeral and Cremation Providers,
1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, NC, is assisting
the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers,
contributions may be made to the Army
Transportation Museum, P.O. Drawer D, Fort
