More detail on this person: PAUL EDWARD NEEDLES PAUL EDWARD NEEDLES Daily Press (Newport News, VA) - Sunday, May 28, 2006 Paul Edward Needles, pilot extraordinaire, flew from this old world to a better one on May 26, 2006, at the not so ripe age of 75. He left behind a loving and grief stricken wife of 53 years, Sherry Joan Roberds and three fine sons, David Paul, Daniel Adam and Kreig Robert, who also were not ready for their Dad's departure date and were greatly saddened as was David's wife, Veronica Munoz, and their son, David Paul Needles Jr. Paul's proudest day was when he soloed in fixed wing at Gary AFB, TX and his next proudest was when he got that wreath around his wings. He was a good husband and father and took his family with him whenever possible and sometimes when it was not possible, he arranged it anyway. He never volunteered for any war, but went when called upon to Viet Nam twice where he did his duty well and was respected by his men and liked. His superiors were pleased with him and he got his promotions as required. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lillian Sauerbeck, and father, Charles A. Needles, and left behind a brother, Charles W. Needles, and wife, Carol, sister, Jo'Ann Louise, and husband, Bob Hopkins, with their families. On his wife's side there were her mother, Ruth Marie Linkhart, and father, Howard C. Roberds, brother, Richard D. Roberds, with wife, Margaret Drake, and sister, Sondra Ruth Falcone, and their families. "Thanks for the memories Paul, we will always love you."
