More detail on this person: O. James Noon Jr. October 15, 2007 O. James Noon Jr., 64, of 13 Iroquois Way, Lake Monticello, Palmyra, Va., died Monday, at home of pancreatic cancer. Born in Pittsfield on Aug. 26, 1943, son of the late Orrin and Margaret Noon, he grew up in Stockbridge and graduated from Cranwell School, a Jesuit prep school in Lenox. He graduated from St. Bonaventure University in 1965 with a major in English literature and a minor in philosophy. From 1965 to 1969, he served as a commissioned officer in the Army. During 1967 and 1968, he served with the 129th Assault Helicopter Company supporting the Korean Tiger Division in Bin Dinh Province. He was awarded an Air Medal with 19 Oak Leaf Clusters and left the Army with the rank of captain. He earned an MBA from the University of Southern California and worked in various sales, marketing and management positions until retirement in 1999. Mr. Noon supported the American Civil Liberties Union, Amnesty International, and the Francis Ouimet Caddy Scholarship Fund. He leaves his wife, the former Judith Salisbury, whom he married 1988. Besides his wife, he leaves three sons, David Noon of Juneau, Ala., James Noon of Rockville, Md., and Daniel Noon of Arlington, Va.; daughter, Kate Noon of Richmond, Va.; two stepchildren, Matthew Vania of Ft. Collins, Colo., and Metta Vania-Burpee of Stockbridge. Also, a sister, Peggy Hemphill of Kent, Wash.; and two grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A private family memorial service for James Noon, who died Monday, Oct. 15, 2007, will be held in Stockbridge. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory are suggested to Hospice of the Piedmont (www.hopva.org) 2200 Old Ivy Road, Suite 2, Charlottesville, Virginia, or to Amnesty International (www.amnesty.org). Mr. Noon's greatest joys in life were watching the growth and accomplishments of his four children. He also leaves his daughters-in-law, Angela Noon, Nathalie Johnson-Noon, Gosia Rusvkowska-Noon; son-in-law, Daniel; two granddaughters, Audrey and Izzy. He was predeceased by a brother, David, who died in 1973.
