More detail on this person: UH-1H crashed during a night autorotation at the Salt Lake International Airport.The accident was August 17, 1982. He died instantly. He was born November 6, 1942 in Salina, Utah. Married Karen Sue Swensen September 16, 1965. He was a Warrant Officer Pilot in Vietnam. He first flew with the 321st as a CW2. He was direct commissioned 1LT Medical Service Corps in 1978 and was promoted to Captain in 1980. Cliff was about 6'2" tall, red hair, slender build. I don't recall who he flew with in Vietnam.

Cliff Nelson finished his Masters Degree after he left active duty. He received a direct commission to 1LT in 1978 and was promoted to Captain in 1980. As a Major, I commanded the 321st Med Det (RA) USAR 96th ARCOM in Salt Lake City. Cliff was a member of the 321st Med Det (RA). Cliff was killed during a night auto rotation (checkride with IP Al Culligan) at the Salt Lake International Airport. Al Culligan was not seriously injured. The UH-1H made a hard landing and crashed on the runway.
