More detail on this person: Larry Lee Ouverson, 68 Larry Ouverson Montevideo American-News (MN) - Thursday, December 12, 2013 Larry Ouverson, of Talala, Okla., died peacefully at his home Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013, after a hard-fought battle with intestinal cancer, surrounded and supported by his loving family and friends. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 14, at Oologah Assembly of God church, 13462, U.S.169, Oologah, Okla. Poll bearers will be Curtis Huffman, Dennis Huffman, Robert Huffman, Steven Ouverson, Jeff Ouverson and Randy Ouverson. Honorary poll bearers will be Tom Hudson, Jerry McMillin, Tom Lewis, Clay Walker, Tim McCrete and William Stien Larry Lee Ouverson was born in Hendricks, March 25, 1945, to Raymond and Lola Ouverson. He was raised in western Minnesota where he was confirmed at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, in Canby. He attended District 48 country school through the 7th grade, and graduated from Canby High School in 1963. He attended St. Cloud State University for two years prior to enlisting into the U.S. Army in 1966, attending flight school and receiving his pilots certification to fly helicopters. He served in Vietnam from 1967 to 1968 flying over 2,000 combat hours for 281st Attack Helicopter Company supporting the 5th Special Forces. Upon returning from Vietnam he was stationed at Ft. Wolters, Texas, working as a flight instructor, until being honorably discharged in December 1971. Upon completion of his military service Larry returned to Minnesota to continue in the aviation industry. He managed the Montevideo Municipal Airport, offering flight instruction in fixed wing aircraft, charter and crop dusting services. He moved to the Tulsa, Okla. area in 1985. He was employed as a air medical transport pilot from 1985-2011, with Tulsa Life Flight, Air Evac of Tulsa, and retired from Air Evac Life team in March 2011. During that time he completed over 4,000 patient transports. He also worked as a corporate jet pilot for Citgo Aviation, and was a licensed instructor for both helicopter and fixed wing aircraft, logging over 20,000 flight hours in his career. He was also a full-time rancher in the Rogers County area. He enjoyed a variety of pastimes such as hunting and fishing, spending time with his family and friends, raising and showing quarter horses, and enjoyed anything related with aviation. Larry is survived by his mother, Lola Ouverson, of Canby; wife, Cindy Ouverson; son, Scott (and Christy), of Talala, Okla.; daughter, Nicole (and Doug) Mader, of Oologah, Okla.; sisters, Karla Bedner, of Chippewa, Wis.; ViAnn (and Kenny) Kwilinski, of Benson; Karen (and Bill) Pohlen, of La Junta, Colo.;, and Gwenn Ouverson, of Chippewa, Wis.; additional family, Kathy Ouverson, Jeff Kanten and Tatum Kanten; grandchildren, Michael, Kai and Kendal Ouverson, Bailey, Jacob and McKenna Mader; aunts and uncles, Margaret Molnau, of Red Wing, Mavis (and Tom) Garrett, of Little Canada, Nina, (and Kenneth) Benz, of Canby, Elden (and Adrienne) Ouverson, of Pine City, and Donald Erp, of Canby. Preceding him in death were his father; grandparents, John and Anna Erp, Ernest and Marie Ouverson; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
