C. Franklin Owenby, 63, went to be with his Lord
and Savior Jesus Christ, Monday, July 9, 2012.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m.,
Saturday, July 14, 2012 in the chapel of Macon
Memorial Park Funeral Home with burial in Macon
Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Paul Whitten
will officiate. The family will meet friends from
6 - 8 p.m., Friday, July 13, 2012 at the funeral
home. Memorial contributions may be made to
Samaritan's Purse, P. O. Box 3000, Boone, NC
28607.
Mr. Owenby was born in Swannanoa, NC and was
preceded in death by his father, Chester Millard
Owenby. He served with the U. S. Army during the
Vietnam War and with the Air National Guard as a
Helicopter Pilot. Mr. Owenby was a CRNA, and
members of: WBCCI, AAOP, and Bethel Baptist
Church. At Lizella Baptist he served as a deacon
and RA leader. Frank was an outstanding coach to
many young athletes, an avid outdoorsman, and
active pilot. Known by his girls as Super Dad his
grandkids as super awesome, and those he cared
for, coached, and came in contact with as a great
man. He always placed his beloved wife Cherolyn
on a pedestal because as he said, "That's where
she belonged." And above all else he tried to live
his life in both words and deeds in a manner that
would allow Christ's love to shine.
He is survived by the family he cherished, his
wife of forty-two years, Cherolyn R. Owenby of
Savannah; his mother, Florence A. Owenby of
Asheville, NC; his daughters, Leigh Wiggins (Mark)
of Spotsylvania, VA and Kathryn Palmer (Craig) of
Perry; his beloved grandchildren, Austin, Aaron,
Aslan Wiggins and Haley and John Franklin
Palmer; his brothers, Chester, Jerry, and Ronnie
Owenby; his sisters, Elaine Dumas, Linda Owenby
and Clara Sweet; his brothers-in-law, Charles
Roach, Jr. and John Roach; a special uncles, Jack
Roach and Bernard Allen; his aunts, Ozella,
Rubenia, Lelia and Evelyn Cannon; he was also
blessed with many nieces and nephews and close
friends.
