He was born in Laredo, January 3, 1935 to Olvido and Carmen Ortiz. He proudly offered 26 years of military service as a highly dedicated aviator followed by a 20 year career as a flight instructor at NAS Corpus Christi. He was preceded in death by his parents, Olvido and Carmen Ortiz; brothers, Ramiro and Olvido Ortiz, Jr. and his sister, Armandina O. Martinez. Survivors include his wife, Elvia Ortiz; his children: Dr. Mauro Ortiz, Adriana Presley and Marcos Ortiz; his brother, Arturo and sisters: Sandra, Becky, and Carmen; his grandchildren: Ryan, Adam, Laura, Benjamin and Gabriel; his daughters-in-law, Crystal and Vickie and his son-in-law, Paul survive him also. Numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins also survive him. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Angelus Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, January 27, 2005 with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, on Friday, January 28, 2005. Interment to follow at Seaside Memorial Park and Cemetery.
