More detail on this person: Mr Ira C Owens, 52 OBITUARIES Fort Worth Star-Telegram (TX) - Monday, November 18, 1991 ARLINGTON - Ira C. Owens, a retired veteran, died Saturday at a Dallas hospital. He was 52. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Arlington Funeral Home. Burial will be in Fort Sam National Cemtery in San Antonio. Mr. Owens was a chief warrant officer in the Army and retired after 27 years. He was a helicopter pilot in Vietnam and recieved many service medals and awards, including the Silver Star, Distinguished Flying Cross, Bronze Star with three Oak Leaf Clusters, Air medal with eight Numerals, Army Commendation Medal, Purple Heart, National Defense Service medal, Army Service ribbon, Overseas Service ribbon with three Numerals, and Vietnam Service medal with one silver and one bronze service star. Mr. Owens was a social worker for Parkland Memorial Hospital for two years until ill health forced him to retire in March. Survivors: Son, Scott R. Owens of Killeen; daughter, Diane S. Owens of Nashville, Tenn.; mother, Lela Owens of Dallas; three sisters, Kathy Gregory of Killeen, and Pat Cannon and Jean Stone, both of Dallas; and three brothers, Fred Owens of Lake Texoma, and Paul Owens and Mike Owens, both of Dallas. Ira C. Owens served in the US Army as a pilot, Warrant Officer. I served with him in Mainz-Finthen West Germany in 1982-83.
