More detail on this person: It is with regret
that I must inform you that my father, Daniel
Philipps passed away on August 13, 2014. I am
sure you can imagine that we have had a lot of
people to notify over the last 2 years. It was an
oversight that we had not notified your
association. I am sorry for that. Receiving his
new life member card today was a pleasant
reminder of my father but also a reminder that I
must notify you that he is no longer with us. He
died of lung cancer. He was diagnosed on June 13,
2014 and passed away on August 13, 2014. Two of
his other friends that he toured with in Vietnam
also died of similar causes within a year of him.
Thank you for providing a place that he could feel
as though he belonged and try to remember his tour
in Vietnam in a more positive way. When he was ill
he often would talk about Vietnam. We he wasn't
lucid it was as though he thought he was still in
Vietnam. He would look around the room and talk to
men he knew then that had died. I am aware that
Vietnam was a traumatic time for many of it's
pilots. I thank you for your service both then,
