He was born March 19, 1942, in Georgetown, Delaware to Russell Guy and Mary Madeline (Darby) Porter. He was veteran of the U.S. Army and a retired computer programmer with Quantum Chemical Company. He was a member of the Veterans Helicopter Association, and enjoyed photography, computers, and building sailboats. He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Gary Guy Porter. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Patricia Porter of Baytown, daughters, Terri Avant and husband Lance of Baytown, Paula Danley and husband Tommy of Baytown, Pam Marsh and husband Paul of Dayton, and Dawn Garrison of Dayton, brothers, Eric Porter and wife Janice and Jan Porter, grandchildren, Amber and Aaron Avant, Madison Danley, Paul and Dylan Marsh, Justin, Jordan, and Jason Pridgeon. A memorial service will be held Saturday, 3:00 pm at Crespo & Jirrels Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Hayes officiating. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
