Jean "Pappy" Paquin died this spring in Eustis, FL
of cancer. I met Pappy at the 180th ASHC in 1967
in Vietnam. He tutored many of the W-1s in the
CH-47, in combat and in life. His wife, Jane, was
assigned to the 91st Evac Hosp also at Phu Hiep,
and the two of them helped make life a little more
normal for the young pilots and nurses. Pappy
loved to play music and entertained at the Masonic
Lodge in Eustis, FL. After 1968, we reconnected
in 2005 through the efforts of Jerry Sears, one of
our crewchiefs. Pappy was also a pilot for Life
Flight during his retirement years, now mentoring
young CFIs. He was a good man and will be
missed. Survivors: Pappy is survived by his son
Bob.
