More detail on this person: Clifton A Pufpaff Clifton A Pufpaff, CW-4 US Army Retired passed away October 18, 2015 at home after a brief illness. He was born in Montague, MI on January 1, 1930 to the late Adrian and Robie Pufpaff. He joined the US Army in 1948 and while stationed at Fort Bragg, NC he met and married the love of his life, Barbara Taylor Pufpaff; they enjoyed 64 years of wonderful adventures while exploring 6 continents. During his 21 years of service as a paratrooper and pilot in the US Army. He was deployed twice each to Korea and Vietnam as well as supported Southeast Asian operations with a 3 year tour in Bangkok, Thailand. He was recognized for his dedication by being awarded numerous service medals and commendations, some of which were: Two Oak Leaf Clusters, Bronze Star Medal, Air Medal, Service Stars and Army Commendation Medal with One Oak Leaf Cluster. After leaving the Army, he pursued an AS Degree at Danville Community College which led him to a second career with ITT (International Telephone Telegraph) in Raleigh in 1973. In 1984 he and wife Barbara retired to Hampstead, NC to enjoy playing golf, fishing, and bowling and to pursue his real passion building "stuff", which included creating a replica of a 1930's Mercedes Benz and numerous other inventions. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Taylor Pufpaff, of Hampstead; son, Michael A Pufpaff (Dee) of Raleigh, NC; daughter, Donna P. Keeler (Mike) of Raleigh; son, Gary W. Pufpaff of Holly Ridge, NC; grandsons, Jeremy Keeler of Wendell, NC, Matthew Keeler (Bridget) of Knightdale, NC; great granddaughter, Paxley Keeler (Matthew's daughter); granddaughter, Mattie P. Lewis (Josh) of Clayton, NC; great grandson, Emmett Lewis (Mattie's son); and brother, Harold Pufpaff (Judy) of Hasting, MI. In addition to his parents, he was preceded his sister, Ruby Pufpaff and brother, Ken Pufpaff. Memorial Services will be conducted at 11:00 am Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at Andrews Mortuary Hampstead Chapel by Pastor Canady from Hampstead Baptist Church. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service from 10 to 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Sea Lawn Memorial Park, with full military honors.
