More detail on this person: Bill Putnam, 57, fought a courageous eight-year battle with lymphoma and passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2008.

Funeral: 10 a.m. Saturday at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

He was born May 2, 1950, in Oceanside, Calif., to Helen and Roy Putnam. Bill joined the U.S. Army in 1969 and began his long career as a helicopter pilot. He married the love of his life, Gail, and together they traveled the world with their daughters, Heather, Hollie and Melissa. After 20 years of military service, he continued for the next 18 years his love of flying as a commercial pilot with PHI Inc. His children and grandchildren were his true pride and joy and carried him through his long battle with lymphoma.

Survivors: His wife of 38 years, Gail; daughters, Heather Deneault, Hollie Luce and husband, Ray, and Melissa Putnam; grandchildren, Elaine, Hannah, Madeleine, Connor and Cooper; and sisters, Francis Sprabary and husband, Ronnie, Nancy Dehlin and Linda Ross.
