More detail on this person: Walter E. Peck New Braunfels Herald-Zeitung (TX) - Saturday, August 21, 2010 Walter E. Peck was called home to the Lord on Aug. 18, 2010. He leaves behind to mourn his passing his loving wife of 42 years, Yvonne of New Braunfels; and his two sons and their families, Eric and wife Michelle and children Christopher and Laura, and Nathan and wife Jana and children Emily and Tyler, all of San Antonio. Walt was born on March 7, 1946, in Providence, R.I. He was raised by his parents, Russell and Deborah, who both preceded him in death. Walt's love of music started at a young age. He began to play his beloved violin in his teens, and he and his father, and later his son Eric, loved to sing together. As a youngster, Walt idolized his Uncle Walter and Aunt Mim. just as later in his life he idolized and was, in turn, idolized by his grandchildren. Walt was fascinated with the HAM radio and used his HAM radio to provide communication during local emergencies. He also served his country with pride and honor as a helicopter pilot in Vietnam. Walt was a devout Christian who proudly raised his sons in a Christian home. At the time of his death Walt was member of Oakwood Baptist, and will also be missed by all of his friends in the Stokes' Bible Study Group. Visitation will be from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Monday at Zoeller Funeral Home, with the family present to greet friends. Funeral services will be Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2010, at Oakwood Baptist Church at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Hill Country Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the Oakwood Haiti Children's Scholarship Fund.
