More detail on this person: John C Peters, 65 OBITUARIES Tampa Bay Times (FL) - Tuesday, January 31, 2012 PETERS, John C., 65, of Belleair Beach died Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2012. He is survived by his wife, Cynthia; mother, Eleanor Morris; sons, Michael S. Peters and David D. Peters; sister, Ann Olmstead all of Tampa; sister-in-law, Rebecca Freeland of Dallas, TX; brother-in-law, Loren C. Pitts of Shawnee, KS; stepsister, Polly Spencer of Arlington, TX; and 3 grandchildren. John known as "Pete" to his family and friends was born in Tampa, and was a graduate of Sewanee Military Academy and attended Missouri University. He served as Captain in the U.S. Army and was a decorated Vietnam helicopter pilot veteran. He owned and operated a restaurant chain in Kansas City where he lived for 8 years. He returned to Tampa in 1979 and was president of Bentley Gray. He was on the board of the Falk Foundation, served on the Family Services board and was a member of The Tampa Yacht Club. A celebration of his life will be 5-7 pm Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012 at the Tampa Yacht Club.
