More detail on this person: James P. (Jamie) Preston died on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at his home.

He was born September 5, 1946 in Anderson and was the son of the late Frederick Arthur and Nancy Nicholson Preston.

Jamie was a graduate of Tri-County Technical College, served in the U. S . Army as a drill sergeant and a helicopter pilot. He was retired from Duke Energy Corporation where he worked at Oconee Nuclear Station as a senior reactor operator and as a nuclear instructor.

Jamie loved music and was particularly fond of bluegrass. He played several different instruments, but primarily played guitar and sang. He was a founder of the Spitoono Festival in Clemson, SC, was a member of the Redneck Performing Arts Association. He was a member of the Golden Corner Barbershop Chorus and served as chapter president.

Surviving are his loving wife and best friend, Sherry Bell Preston; daughters, Michelle Turner, Beth McDonald, and Lovella Mae De Spain; sons, James Arthur (Jimi) Preston, Kerry Cobb, Sean Cobb and M. Lee De Spain, Junior; sisters, Peri Bush and Candace Davies.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a son Alan Bell.

Memorial services will be at Spider Farm on Reedy Fork Rd. in Seneca at 2:00 PM Saturday, April 26, 2014.

In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to The Redneck Performing Arts Association, c/o Harry E. Bodiford, 105 Old Greenville Highway, Clemson, SC 29631 or to an animal rescue group of your choosing.
