More detail on this person: Free Lance-Star, The (Fredericksburg, VA) - Friday, November 8, 2013 Lt. Col. Lowell W. "Hoss" Parish, 83, passed away peacefully of complications from a stroke on Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Charlotte Parish; his children, Joshua (Melora Stewart) Parish, Danielle Parish (Evan) Rubin, Erik (Karen) North; grandchildren Logan Parish, Evelyn Parish, Isla Rubin and Zuma Rubin; as well as his niece and nephew and many beloved friends. Lowell grew up in Commerce, Texas; he graduated from East Texas State University before joining the U.S. Marine Corps. While in the Corps, he earned his master's degree from Rensselaer. After 26 years of service flying jets, C130 planes and helicopters, Lowell proudly retired as a lieutenant colonel. He met and married Charlotte while stationed at Quantico, where they lived happily with their children. With his sense of humor, wit and silliness he made everyone laugh. He was a beloved "Papa," husband and father. His spirit will be carried on by those dear to him. A private military service with full honors will be held Wednesday, Nov. 13, at Quantico National Cemetery. A reception will be held at the family home for friends and family at 3 p.m., following the service.
