More detail on this person: Buddy Harp says that Jim was in an OH-23 that had an engine failure and crashed into San Fran Bay in Oct 1969. Jim completed CH-47 transition school during the summer of 1969.

Jim was my flight school roommate at Ft Rucker. He was a LOH pilot in Viet Nam where he was shot down and subsequently wounded by small arms fire 3 times. We reunited at Lettermen General Hospital in the Spring of 1968. He died in an OH23 accident just outside the Golden Gate Bridge along with a High School Classmate of his in the Fall of 1968.

Marin 'Copter Crash - - Victims Are Identified The Sixth Army announced last night that a San Mateo youth was one of the two persons killed in the crash of an Army helicopter Monday in Marin County. He was identified as Airman First Class Terrance G. Drake, 21, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Drake, San Mateo. The crash also killed the pilot of the aircraft. He was identified as Army Chief Warrant Officer James W. Paydo, 21, whose father, Air Force Lieutenant Colonel John Paydo, is stationed in Germany.
